TopOpt Cluster


The TopOpt cluster is owned by the section for Solid Mechanics at the department of Mechanical Engineering. Access to the cluster is thus accordingly decided within the section for Solid Mechanics.

The cluster consists of 25 HP SL390s nodes

21 nodes each equipped with:

  • 2 x 6 core Intel Xeon 5660 CPUs
  • 48GB RAM
  • QDR Infiniband
  • 500 GB internal SATA (7200 rpm) disk for OS and applications

4 nodes each equipped with:

  • 2 x Nvidia m2050 GPUs
  • QDR Infiniband (on separate IB switch)
  • 500 GB internal SATA (7200 rpm) disk for OS and applications

Finally a HP DL165 node for debug / compile purposes (front end machine for the TopOpt cluster – planned not yet implemented)

  • 2 x 12 cores AMD opteron 6164 HE 1.7 GHz CPUs
  • 32 GB RAM
  • 1 Gb Ethernet interconnect

All nodes are installed with Scientific Linux 6.4
